What is a modular home?
A modular home is just like any other home, except for how it is built. Modular homes are built in sections, or “modules,” in a controlled factory environment. Once the entire home is complete, these pieces are then sent to the home site for assembly.
Once at the site, large cranes will hoist the pieces onto a foundation that has been built on site. Crews will attach the modules, raise the roof, and ensure the home is weather-tight. This part usually can be done in one day.
From there, finishing work begins. Interior and exterior “seams” disappear, porches are built, mechanical systems are brought to life, and any other custom work is completed on site.
Why modular?
The benefits of modular construction are numerous. The controlled factory environment in which the majority of your home construction takes place allows for tremendous efficiency. The weather causes no delays, inspections are conducted on site as work is completed, and the workers are highly specialized. This means unbeatable time savings and cost savings.
Plus, because of their unique construction requirements, modular homes are highly energy efficient, meaning even more savings for you in the long term.
It’s also important to remember that modular homes are custom homes. Any floor plan you like can be modified and customized to fit your unique tastes and preferences.
